Australia and New Zealand

In August 2026 the official Halloween: The Game account confirmed that the Australian Classification Board denied the title a rating. IllFonic wrote that the denial was not based on Michael Myers or the kills, but on the presence of a controlled substance. The studio added that it cannot sell the physical or digital product in Australia and New Zealand.

Later reporting from the Classification Board described illicit drug use tied to an incentive or reward: using the substance provides a gameplay advantage. Coverage around the decision, including player discussion of a marijuana item that can highlight Myers, matches that mechanic even though the first official posts used the broader phrase “controlled substance.” IllFonic has not announced a censored AU/NZ build.

Practical result:

• No digital pre-order on PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or Epic in those countries.
• No physical Standard or Collector shipment through normal retail.
• VPN storefront hopping is against platform rules and is not a support path.
• Gift copies from another country can still collide with account region, payment region, and local law.

Japan: PlayStation 5 cancelled, Xbox and PC still scheduled

Crossplay, accounts, and gifting

Halloween: The Game advertises crossplay across the platforms that actually launch in your region. Easy Anti-Cheat will still run on PC. A Japanese Xbox player can, in principle, queue with a North American Steam player if both clients are live and the matchmaking rules allow it. A Japanese PlayStation 5 account cannot, because that client is not launching.

Gifting Deluxe to a friend in a blocked region is likely to fail at redemption. Platform stores check the receiver’s wallet country. If you are buying a Collector figure as a display piece, that is a product question for the retailer, not a license to install the game in Australia.
